CANK Note:
What follows do not claim to be verbatim reports but rather a summary
of the main points made.
Cross Examination of CANK Witnesses
by Vernon Pugh QC for Castle Cement
Arnold Woolley (CANK Chairman)
Before cross examination, Tom Hill (CANK barrister)
took AW through his summary proof of evidence.
AWconfirmed he has lived in the area since 1986 and been a Buckley
Town Councillor since 1994.
The principal issues raised in his proof were:
1)Significant dust deposition on local cars with
illustrative photographs;
2)The substantial night time dust emissions seen
from the stacks, backed up by low light video footage
'we have noticed that
dust at night and during weekends seems to be more prolific';
3)The continuing strength of public opinion as evidenced
in a 9,000 signature petition which he handed to the Inspector;
4)Visual impact v the housing growth envisaged for
the area around the plant with some 1,400 dwellings proposed.
THE REMAINING DAYS, COMPRISING CANKS AND THE EA'S CROSS EXAMINATIONS
ARE STILL TO BE ADDED
