C.A.N.K. 6 March 2002
WELSH ASSEMBLY DECISION ON
PUBLIC INQUIRY
The Campaign Against the New Kiln deplores and condemns the decision made by members of the National Assembly for Wales.
They have not listened to the very clear message given to them by the overwhelming majority of the population of North East Wales and adjoining areas. They have totally ignored the potential jeopardy to public health and well being that the burning of hazardous wastes within the new kiln will bring.
Neither have they taken into adequate account the massive, monumental and hideous impact that the new structure will impose upon the landscape.
This unfortunate and shortsighted decision is by no means the end of C.A.N.K.’s fight to prevent the construction, licensing and commissioning of the new kiln.
We have the support of the population. C.A.N.K. has a moral obligation to continue to oppose the new kiln. We shall now look to other legislation in order to progress our obligation to protect human rights in North East Wales and around.
