Hi there ! Its Jeff Roden again.
I have just
finished browsing your web site again and I am amazed
at your ill-founded claims that only 1 in 6 workers at the plant
are local.
Where did you dig this crap up from ?
I have worked at the plant for
18 years and I know each and every of
the 210 employees, not 160, and I know where vitually all these
people live.
I can tell you that the vast majority live in either Buckley,
Penyffordd,
Mold or Leeswood. This is fact, not lies or fiction.
It this type of lies
that is going to cost our jobs and that of over 200 more indirectly
.
If that is the depths your group
will stoop to try and stop this kiln
being built, then indeed you are a really sad bunch of individuals.
I look forward to your reply, if any!
Yours sincerely
Jeff Roden

Dear Mr Roden,
Thanks for your letter.
To answer the various points you raise:
<<your ill-founded
claims that only 1 in 6 workers at the plant are local.>>
I cannot see where this appears - perhaps you
can tell me?
We did say that 6 of the 160 live locally. Bearing in mind that CANK is a Penyffordd/Penymynydd based group, we were referring to those villages. You will understand that we are particularly concerned because it is estimated that some 40% of all fallout currently comes our way. In effect, 40% of the emissions affect just 3% of the workforce's families!
<< 210 employees,
not 160>>
We stand corrected. However, we are a little
confused:- your spokesman in The Flintshire Mail d/d (25/11/99) specifically
refers to 'most of the 160 jobs at the ageing plant'?
I understand, also, that the workforce will reduce
by 20 to 30 if the new kiln is built, perhaps that is where the two different
figures come from?
This web site is interested only in the truth, or as much of it as we can ascertain. It is then up to visitors, like yourself, to draw your own conclusions and point out any errors of fact.
You will understand our concern and that of the local villagers when we see what the people of the Clitheroe area have been subjected to by your sister plant there (see our link to The Lancashire Evening Telegraph stories let.html)
